The written permit exam administered by the Utah Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) tests for your knowledge in three key areas – road rules, driving regulations and road signs. To help you gain the road sign knowledge you need to pass, we have created this practice test. On this test you will find questions about emergency, informational, guide, regulatory and warning signs – in short, all the signs you need to know to earn your permit and begin learning to drive in “the Beehive State.”

What to Expect On The Practice Test

Test questions are multiple choice and cover road sign related content presented in the Utah drivers handbook. The test includes instant feedback so that you will know immediately if you answered a question correctly or incorrectly. The test also includes randomized question order and unlimited attempts. These latter two features mean you can take this test as many times as you like and each time that you take it the questions will be reordered.

Since test questions come from the same resource that is used for the actual permit test, this road signs practice test is a great way to prepare for the experience of sitting for the real test. Take the test now to see how well you know your Utah road signs. The test is free. You need to answer at least 20 of the questions correctly in order to pass.
