When you sit for the written permit test at the Tennessee Department of Safety (DOS) you will need to be able to answer questions on road rules, driving regulations and road signs. In fact, road sign questions make up a significant portion of the overall questions on the test. To help you increase your odds of earning your permit on your first attempt, we have created this road sign practice test. The test offers questions on the regulatory, warning, emergency, guide and informational signs used on Tennessee roads.

What to Expect On The Practice Test

This practice test is focused solely on road signs and their meanings. Each question is multiple choice and you will need to select the best answer from four possibilities. You will be told immediately if an answer you have given is right or wrong. You will also be given an answer explanation.

You can take this test an unlimited number of times and it is always free to take. Each time you retake the test the questions will be reordered. The test questions come from the Tennessee drivers handbook and are similar to the questions you will need to answer on the written permit test.

If you are eager to receive your permit and to begin to learn to drive in “the Volunteer State” taking this road sign practice test is a great first step. Take it now to test your road sign knowledge.
