Prepare for the road sign portion of the written permit test administered by the South Dakota Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) by taking our new practice test today. This test features 25 questions on regulatory, informational, guide, warning and emergency road signs. If you want to earn your permit and learn to drive in “the Mount Rushmore State,” road sign knowledge is critical. This test will help you gain that knowledge.

What to Expect On The Practice Test

Test questions are multiple choice and are graded like the questions on the real permit test. You will be notified immediately if an answer is right or wrong. Our system will also give you a detailed answer explanation so that you can improve your road sign knowledge as you make your way through the test.

You can take the test multiple times and each time you take it the questions will be reordered to create a new test experience for you. Test questions come from the South Dakota drivers handbook and are similar to the ones you’ll find on the real permit test.

Get started now. You need to answer at least 20 questions correctly in order to pass, which is a score of 80 percent. We recommend that you continue taking the test until you achieve a score of 90 percent or even 100 percent. The test is always free to take.
