A major part of your score on the New Jersey written permit test will come from your knowledge of road signs, including regulatory signs, warning signs, guide signs, informational signs and emergency signs. To help you sharpen your road sign knowledge, we have created this practice test that is focused on road signs exclusively.

The test contains 25 multiple choice questions that have been drawn from the New Jersey drivers handbook. In the questions, you will be asked to identify a certain sign or to explain its meaning. You will need to answer at least 80 percent of the 25 questions correctly to pass – that means you need to get at least 20 questions correct. We suggest that you strive for an even higher score of 90 percent or 100 percent. The test can be taken an unlimited number of times so you can take it as many times as necessary to learn all the content.

In addition, each test question features instant feedback so you will know if your answer is right or wrong immediately after you submit it. You will also be given a detailed explanation of each correct answer to aid in your learning. If you are serious about earning your permit at the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC), taking this free road sign practice test is a step in the right direction.
